CpG Methyltransferase (M.SssI) is isolated from recombinant E. coli strains that have cloned the CpG methyltransferase gene from Spiroplasma sp. MQ1 strain. CpG Methyltransferase (M.SssI) can methylate all cytosine residues (C5) in the double-stranded dinucleotide recognition sequence 5´...CG...3´.
